Why Choose Invisalign Clear Aligners in Adelaide?

With Invisalign clear aligners, achieving a beautifully even smile doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your lifestyle and aesthetics anymore.

Invisalign trays are removable and made from clear plastic, offering you a virtually invisible, convenient treatment for misaligned teeth that won’t stop you from smiling confidently.

It’s the perfect option for adults and teenagers looking to transform their smile AND self confidence.

Discreet & Removable

Unlike traditional braces which are permanently fit to your teeth, Invisalign braces won’t cramp your lifestyle. You’ll be able to remove your aligners for eating, drinking and special occasions.

Teeth realignment has never looked better or felt more comfortable with Invisalign. You won’t need to worry about bulky wires and brackets thanks to our 3D scanning technology – just smooth contoured resin that fits snugly around your teeth, like it was custom made.

Faster Results Than Traditional Braces

Invisalign doesn’t just look great. In most cases, you’ll achieve a straight smile in less time – without the added bulk of chunky metal brackets and wires.

What Is Invisalign and How Does It Work?

Using a carefully planned process, your Invisalign system comprises a series of different aligners, each slightly different from the previous, resulting in small changes to your teeth each week.

An added benefit to undergoing Invisalign treatment is that the Invisalign clear aligners are removable, making them convenient for eating, drinking and oral hygiene.

Step-by-Step Invisalign Process at My Dentist

Excited to start your 4-step Invisalign journey? Here’s what to expect when you choose My Dentist:

Consultation & 3D Scan

Our dentists will complete a thorough examination of your teeth and jaw and discuss your goals and expectations.

From here, we use our advanced digital technology to create a 3D render of your mouth.

Doing so allows not only us to create a highly personalised treatment plan that is tailored to your needs, but also provides you with a visual simulation of your final result.

Custom Aligner Series

Your digital 3D teeth maps are sent to an Invisalign lab, who will map out a treatment schedule. This lab manufactures your personalised Invisalign retainer trays, which are made from patented, BPA-free, medical-grade polyurethane resin.

You’ll need to wear each Invisalign retainer for around 1-2 weeks, and during this time, it gently applies pressure to the teeth, guiding them into their correct positions, resulting in gradual changes.

Regular Check-Ins & Refinements

You’ll need regular reviews every 6-8 weeks to monitor your progress.

Refinement aligners
As your treatment progresses, our dentists will assess your treatment plan. If necessary, additional adjustments may be required to ensure your result is as close to perfect as possible. Refinement aligners are usually provided towards the end of your treatment process.

Invisalign attachments

Depending on your teeth straightening needs, small, tooth-coloured attachments may be required to help your aligners grip the teeth and move them into place more effectively. Please note that these attachments are temporary and will be removed once your treatment is complete.

Retention Phase

Once your treatment is complete, wearing retainers is essential for maintaining the new position of your teeth. Our dentists will provide you with the correct aftercare instructions for retainers to keep your smile straight and healthy

Invisalign Can Correct These Common Issues

Speak to our dentists if you’re concerned about any of these conditions that Invisalign solutions can correct.

Overcrowding

When teeth are overcrowded, it becomes challenging to maintain proper oral hygiene resulting in problems such as tooth decay and gum disease. Invisalign gradually aligns the teeth in more evenly spaced and orderly positions, reducing oral health issues and enhancing your overall smile.

Gaps

If you have a number of gaps in your teeth, your Invisalign program can be tailored to bring the teeth closer together, resulting in a more uniform and pleasing appearance. This will also lead to an improved bite and reduce the risk of food becoming trapped, causing cavities and gum issues.

Underbites

An underbite is present when lower teeth protrude beyond the upper teeth. Those with this condition can find that they can have difficulty chewing, and experience extra wear and tear on the teeth. Invisalign can correct underbites by helping the back teeth to gradually move into alignment with upper teeth, creating a more balanced bite and better jaw functionality.

Overbites

An overbite is diagnosed when the upper teeth significantly overlap the lower teeth. Overbites can lead to issues such as jaw pain and wear on the lower teeth. Invisalign is used to correct overbites by reducing the overlap and creating a healthier bite.

Crossbites

Crossbites are a result of the upper teeth sitting inside the lower teeth instead of outside. Those with crossbite jaw misalignments can suffer from uneven wear on teeth as well as jaw pain. Invisalign can help correct crossbites by moving teeth into the right positions, improving bite, jaw pain and teeth from undue wear.

Frequently Asked Questions – Invisalign Adelaide

How long does Invisalign take?

For most patients, the treatment period is between 6 to 18 months, but it can vary depending on your individual circumstances.

How often should I wear Invisalign?

Invisalign must be worn for 20-22 hours a day to maximise the effectiveness of treatment. They should be only removed when you eat, drink or brush your teeth.

Is Invisalign painful?

Overall, wearing Invisalign isn’t painful, but you may experience discomfort and aching during the initial adjustment period for a set of new aligners, which typically lasts for less than a week.

Does medicare or private health cover it?

While Medicare will not cover the costs of Invisalign treatment, private health insurance will usually provide a rebate. We recommend that you speak with your insurer for more specific information about exact rebate amounts.

Can I eat and drink with Invisalign?

You can drink plain water; however, we don’t recommend eating or drinking with your aligners otherwise. It’s best to remove them first as they are at risk of warping, discolouration and damage from chewing actions, food dyes and chemicals.

Will I need to wear a retainer after I finish my treatment?

Yes, your retainer plays a key role in holding your teeth in their new position until the gums have stabilised, otherwise they may return to being misaligned. Most people will need to wear retainers for at least a year after treatment, but your dentist will be able to give you more accurate information about timeframes.

How can I clean my Invisalign?

It’s important to clean your aligners at least twice a day or every time that you brush your teeth.

There are a few ways that you can clean your trays:

  • Purchase Invisalign cleaning crystals, foam or spray
  • Brush them with a soft toothbrush, mild soap and lukewarm water
  • Use an Ultrasonic cleaner

Will wearing Invisalign affect my speech?

Depending on the individual, it may have little to no effect. After the initial adjustment period, your speech muscles and tongue movements will be able to accommodate the Invisalign and your speech should return to normal.

Can I still whiten my teeth while using Invisalign?

Yes, it’s possible since the Invisalign tray itself can hold whitening gel. However, we usually recommend waiting until your treatment has finished because your trays may contain attachments which may prevent the whitening gel from spreading evenly over your teeth.
