Dental Decay

Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body. While protecting the vulnerable inner tooth surface from all the chemicals we take into our body in the form of food and drinks and even air pollution, it is not impenetrable.
Decay is caused by a pH imbalance in your mouth allowing the outer enamel shell to be penetrated by the acid from specific bacteria. When dentists fill cavities, they are only treating the result of the decay process not the cause. While brushing and flossing can reduce bacteria, neither alters the potential acidic bacterial imbalance in your mouth and you continue to get cavities.
Changing the acidic pH can be achieved through specific products including mouth rinses and toothpastes, these can change the chemical balance of your mouth and lower the bacterial count and are scientifically proven to reduce the risk of cavities.
